A Major Milestone for Tropical Forests: Tropical Forest Forever Facility (TFFF) Launched with more than $5B in Commitments
November 6, 2025
BELÉM - At an event during the leadup to COP30 in Belem today, the Tropical Forest Forever Facility was officially launched with numerous countries pledging more than $5B in financial commitments.
Brian O’Donnell, Director of Campaign for Nature, said:
“Today marked a turning point for tropical forest finance as billions of dollars were pledged to the Tropical Forest Forever Facility. Campaign for Nature congratulates Brazil, Indonesia, and the other tropical forest nations in the TFFF Secretariat for developing a bold new approach to address deforestation and value and pay for the conservation and restoration of tropical forests. The leadership from these nations is inspiring. We are grateful to them for this essential endeavor.
Campaign for Nature is immensely thankful to the nations that put forward major financial commitments to the TFFF, including Norway, Brazil, and Indonesia. They have demonstrated, through their funding, that the natural systems that sustain life on Earth deserve to be a key component of government budgets.
We encourage other nations to step up and join these leaders. They can and should support the TFFF so that tropical forests can thrive for generations to come. ”

About the TFFF
The Tropical Forest Forever Facility (TFFF) is a groundbreaking global investment initiative spearheaded by Brazil to permanently fund the conservation of tropical forests. With a target of raising USD 125 billion, it aims to become the largest forest fund in history.
The TFFF proposes a truly exciting paradigm shift. By valuing standing and restored tropical forests, the TFFF will mitigate a market failure by assigning a value to and paying for the ecosystem services provided by tropical and subtropical moist broadleaf forests.
The TFFF complements other forest finance initiatives as it rewards conservation while providing returns to investors; empowers Tropical Forest Countries, IPLCS and other forest stewards with long-term, large-scale, predictable finance; and creates an unprecedented global financial incentive to protect standing tropical forests, instead of destroying them.
